From Basic to Boutique – A Master Bath Reimagined
This bathroom transformation started with a modest vision: new countertops, maybe an updated vanity and a few fresh fixtures. But after watching how we care for our clients and bring designs to life—through a networking group we’re both part of—our client felt confident enough to take a leap. While she’s chosen to keep her name private, her taste and trust in the process made this one unforgettable project.
The space was typical builder-grade: a long single-sink vanity, outdated tile, and a massive mirror that lacked personality. The tub was bulky, the floors were mismatched, and the overall layout felt uninspired. But when she saw the creative possibilities our team presented, she expanded her budget and let us turn a basic bathroom into something truly special.
Before the Transformation – The Starting Point
When our team first arrived on-site, the bathroom told the all-too-familiar story of a space stuck in the early 2000s. Beige tile with dark diamond accents covered the shower walls, and the outdated floor tile was being stubborn during demo—breaking apart in uneven patches, held tight by time and tough adhesive.
The drop-in tub, already disconnected, sat exposed with visible plumbing and a skirt that had seen better days.
Kristi stood in the doorway and said, “I want to feel proud walking into this space every morning. Right now? It just makes me want to close the door.”
We knew we had to rework not just the finishes, but the energy of the space.
This was about more than fixtures—it was about creating a bathroom Kristi could feel in, not just function in.
Design That Breathes Life
- A Freestanding Tub Worthy of a Spa: The drop-in tub was removed, making way for a sculptural freestanding soaking tub nestled under a frosted window. Behind it, we installed a breathtaking raised ceramic tile wall with an ornate pattern—adding depth, elegance, and a serene spa-like backdrop.
- Statement Flooring with Warmth and Pattern: We selected wood-look porcelain tile and laid it in a bold chevron pattern, introducing texture, visual movement, and warmth underfoot.
- Double Vanity Upgrade: The long, underutilized vanity was replaced with a crisp white shaker-style double vanity. Matte black fixtures and bold, graphic hardware delivered striking contrast. The dual mirrors added symmetry and functionality.
- Chic Makeup Nook: We transformed an unused wall into a tailored glam station with a matte black console table, a scalloped edge mirror, and soft lighting. It’s now Kristi’s favorite spot to start her day.
- Black Finishes That Ground the Space: From plumbing to drawer pulls, matte black accents brought clarity and boldness, anchoring the room in modern sophistication.
- Lighting for Mood and Function: Layered lighting gave the room dimension and versatility. With sconces, vanity lights, and soft overhead fixtures, the bathroom transitions easily from energizing mornings to peaceful evenings.

This project wasn’t just about changing materials—it was about reshaping how the space made Kristi feel. She went from tiptoeing around an outdated bathroom to lighting candles, soaking in the tub, and indulging in the quiet luxury of a space designed just for her.
