From our very first conversation, it was clear this project was about more than aesthetics—it was about creating a space that could evolve with their family. Jodi wanted rooms that felt cohesive yet full of character, functional yet inviting, and above all, a home that told their story in every detail. Our goal was to take what was once generic and transform it into something intentional, layered, and effortlessly livable—where everyday moments would feel just a little more special.
Where It Started: Functional, But Flat
Jodi’s home had great bones—an open floor plan, natural light, and well-sized rooms. But visually? It lacked soul. The kitchen featured granite countertops with interesting movement, but the old backsplash left her stumped.
“Everything I tried felt wrong,” she confessed.
The lighting throughout the house was standard builder-grade, offering no style and even less atmosphere.
In the dining room, a bulky chandelier dominated the space, while the master bedroom still held onto the same bedframe they bought when they first moved in—a piece that, while sentimental, no longer fit the woman she had grown into.
And then there were the bar stools. Finding counter-height seating that looked good, fit the space, and felt comfortable for her 6’3″ husband? That was a mission on its own.
The Design Vision: Urban Industrial Meets Suburban Comfort
Kitchen Transformation: We started with the biggest challenge—the backsplash.
After seeing samples in person and narrowing down options, we landed on a dimensional dark tile with horizontal lines that pulled out the deeper tones in the granite. This was the moment the design came alive. Black fixtures and lighting replaced the builder basics, and camel-colored counter stools brought a welcoming warmth and stylish functionality to the island.
Here’s how the process went:
Dining Room Reimagined
The dining room received a dramatic facelift. We painted the back wall a deep, moody tone to ground the space and swapped the traditional chandelier for a series of clear-glass pendants that gave just the right amount of sparkle. Statement lamps and a radiant sunburst mirror layered in light and dimension, and a trio of matte vases with greenery added organic balance to the strong lines of the furniture.
Living Room Personality
The addition of a wheel-wagon style coffee table gave the room a true focal point—industrial, textural, and undeniably cool. Styled with sculptural accessories and books that reflect Jodi’s taste, it anchors the room and invites conversation. Layered textures, soft throws, and a curated rug elevated the entire space.
Bedroom With Intention
We updated the bed to a wood-toned frame with a more architectural feel—refined and mature, but still cozy. We layered in luxe pillows with camel leather accents and added custom drapery to soften the space. The transformation turned a once-bland room into a haven that feels tailored, stylish, and deeply personal.
