Updating a Traditional Space with Smart Storage, Refined Finishes, and Everyday Comfort
When Amanda first reached out to Design on a Dime Interiors, it was clear she had been following our journey for some time. As an avid supporter of our work on social media, she had watched us turn houses into homes, transforming spaces into stylish yet functional havens. After five years in her Kingwood home with her husband and young son, Amanda decided it was time for her own transformation.
The spark for change came after hosting her 2-year-old’s birthday party—a joyous occasion that highlighted an unsettling reality: their home wasn’t serving them as it should. Outdated furniture, an underutilized dining room, and a lack of cohesive design had made entertaining a challenge. The space they once envisioned as their dream home had become a source of frustration and even embarrassment.
That’s when Amanda decided to take the leap and called us to reimagine their space

Here’s the ‘before’ state:
The Design Vision: Where Function Meets Elegance
From the outset, Amanda and her husband shared two clear goals. First, they wanted their home to reflect their love for the color blue—a hue they both found calming and timeless. Second, they sought to transform their little-used dining room into a vibrant wine and seating area, ideal for hosting friends and family.
Our mission was clear: create a home that balances beauty with functionality, making everyday life easier while showcasing their unique style.
Custom Window Coverings:
We selected fabrics that complemented the rich blue tones Amanda and her husband adore, adding texture and elegance to their living space. The drapery not only enhanced the aesthetic but also provided privacy and soft lighting—a touch of luxury for their daily routines.
Striking Wallpaper Accent:
To give the room character, we incorporated a bold, patterned wallpaper in the living area. This became a statement feature, drawing attention and sparking conversation among their guests.

The Libations Center:
The centerpiece of the transformation was the custom-built libations center in the reimagined dining room. Designed for entertaining, it features ample storage for wine and spirits, sleek countertops, and a sophisticated setup for mixing and serving drinks. This unique addition turned an underutilized area into the heart of their home.

Curated Furniture Pieces:
Every piece of furniture was chosen with care to ensure both comfort and visual appeal. From plush seating to a stylish coffee table, the furnishings created a cohesive look while standing up to the demands of a busy family.
Check out how the transformation went:
When Amanda and her family saw the final result, their joy was palpable.
The transformation not only enhanced their daily living but also reignited their pride in their home. Hosting is now a pleasure, and their redesigned spaces have become a true reflection of their personalities and lifestyle.
